Large scale challenges like the transition to a net zero economy and social inequality require financing models that can attract more solution-focused private capital at scale. Join the Impact Investing Institute and the London School of Economics’ Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, for a webinar to explore the transformative role of catalytic capital and blended finance in designing investments to deliver positive economic, environmental, and social impact.
Kieron Boyle, Chief Executive of the Impact Investing Institute will be in conversation with Sarah Gordon, Visiting Professor in Practice at the LSE’s Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment to talk about the findings of her report “Mobilising private sector capital for public policy priorities: Practical solutions for government.” We will also be joined by two speakers who are leading successful examples of blended finance in practice in the UK and the emerging markets to talk about the power of combining catalytic capital and private capital to deliver real-life solutions for people and the planet:
- Stephen Peacock, CEO of Bristol City Council, a partner of Bristol City Leap, an innovative public-private partnership which has committed £500 million to accelerate green energy investment in Bristol and help towards decarbonising the city; and,
- Martin Ewald, Lead Portfolio Manager at Allianz Global Investors, who leads the Impact Investment team managing the blended finance Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund and the Emerging Markets Climate Action Fund.
There will be time set aside for audience participation and we encourage you to bring your thoughts and questions for our speakers.
